Stare Into the Face of Death

Kirk Gauthier I recently made a joke on Twitter calling for a new heavy metal sub-genre, depressive suicidal power metal. And someone commented, “Isn’t that just epic doom metal?”. At the time, I just chuckled to myself, but that user was clearly onto something. This EP definitely feels about as close to depressive suicidal power metal as we may get, and it’s rife with elements of power, doom, and trad metal. The new wave of traditional heavy metal is here, and Mourn the Light have a torch burning! Favorite track: The Hunt.

bmurator US Heavy / Doom Metal. This takes me back! Good old fashioned heavy metal. They even sing about it:

Dont lose your mind
Heavy metal is here to stay

Damn right it is! What a fantastic little EP! Thanks MtL! Highly recommended!!! Favorite track: The Hunt.

FDJ (Desert Psychlist) Old school metal of the type we do not hear enough of these -days, think Grand Magus and you'll be in the right ballpark. Favorite track: The Hunt.

JimSim Very good traditional doom, with a nice amount of NWOBHM. Picks up where "Suffer, Then We're Gone" left off. Thumbs up! Favorite track: Face of Death.

Andreas Muhr Well it's Mourn the Light, you should know what to expect: classical doom metal with screaming guitars and a double bass thunder which makes you want to bang your head and shout along the vocals!

The Hunt 06:29
Miles ahead Home in the rearview Pocket full of lead End the reign of the false fewI see you You can not hide We're on the hunt And the enemy will die On the road to truth The righteous will prevail Hitmen on the loose The ones that never fail Riding through the night Seeking to destroy See the lights of fright Run to the hills unless you want a fight We crest the hill Descend upon the foe Strike with fury This stand will be their last The bodies adding up Here's the final battle You're running out of luck Victory to the masters

Living life Can bring you down And one day soon we all end up in the ground Live each day Like its your last Moving forward leave your mistakes in the past Dont lose your mind Heavy metal is here to stay Take control of the night The pain fades every time you play Now stand up Shout it loud Let the metal ignite the crowd Bang your head Raise your horns Your destiny since the day you were born Dont lose your mind Heavy metal is here to stay Take hold of the night The pain fades every time you play So as you can see, Its your destiny To carry the flame, So they'll remember your name So as you can see, It's your destiny Dont let life drag you down, Bang your head to the sound One more push To break the line Our power will not be confined Live each day Like it's your last Pushing on leave it all in the past

Everyone's got dreams They don't all come true Reaching for greatness Life has different plans for you For every step you take There's a price to pay A price to pay It all comes down to you It all comes down to you It all comes down On you I feel so small And I haven't got a clue I've given my all Not sure what more I can do I've tried so hard Each and every single day Everyday I can't seem to find my way I'm still lost at every turn But at the end of the day You'll find that you live and you learn Everyone's got dreams But only some come true If you don't reach for greatness It won't happen for you Every lesson learned Will help lead the way Lead the way

Singing songs of where I wen't wrong won't change what's been done Try harder in the times ahead and don't waste it on time that's gone I've seen my share of hard times I'm sure it's not the last time No more living in the past got to look forward or I'll never last Take some time to catch your breath, reset your mind Look deep inside you won't believe what you'll find Stare deep into the face of death and say not today Stare deep into the face of death and scream no way Life can drag us down...so take to the sky Soaring through the clouds....we learn to fly We won't stop We've got the will...we'll find our way No matter how hard it get's....we fight every day There's no way to go back and say all the things you wanted to say Break your heart out of it's cage and let it lead the way The pain I feel is way too real and it makes me break down and cry I'm not sure if there's a cure but I'm not ready to give up and die So here you are at the end of the line Come closer succumb to me your soul is mine I smell the fear I know the scent well From here and forever in darkness you shall dwell COME WITH ME! NO, NOT TODAY! COME WITH ME! NO, NOT TODAY!

At one moment delivering crushingly massive riffs, only to jump at the next turn, galloping along with shades of classic power metal taking hold and leading the way. All the while focused on incredibly memorable songs, with catchy hooks and singalong choruses.
